Unrivaled Excellence in Mountain Construction

Tailored Solutions for Unique Terrain

After more than 30 years of years of building custom homes on technical terrain found in the Colorado mountains, our team - architect, engineers, construction professionals - delivers exceptional architecture and structural integrity with each project, even in the most challenging environments.

We understand that every mountain site presents its own set of obstacles and considerations and must be approached with a thorough and tailored strategy. We carefully assess those challenges before developing a comprehensive plan to address them.

Seamless Integration with Nature's Beauty

Deference to nature guides our design and construction.

When building in mountainous areas, we aim not only to create exceptional structures but also to preserve the natural beauty of your building site. Our eco-conscious approach ensures minimal disruption to the environment, while maximizing harmony between your home and its surroundings, enhancing the overall aesthetic appeal.

Enhancing Homebuilding with Interior Design

Mary Nelson

With a master's degree in Art and Architecture from Williams College and the Clark Art Institute, Mary brings a seasoned and creative perspective to selecting interior finishes. Mary oversees the implementation of these finishes from the drywall stage onwards. She understands that making choices can be overwhelming for clients and strives to assist in finding the perfect theme for their vision of "home". Mary believes that architectural and interior design aspects must harmonize from the start for a truly coherent and successful result, and she has developed a comprehensive personalized selection process that greatly eases the stress of so many decisions. She feels strongly that the architectural and interior design process must go hand in hand from the beginning to achieve complete and coordinated ‘from the outside in’ success. She has developed a path of discovery to your individual style, and like a good book where the characters are so well developed that they virtually write their own script, your choices can be easily made once the theme is in place.

Let Mary's expertise guide you through the interior design journey, creating a space that reflects your unique vision of "home" and achieves a harmonious blend of architectural and design elements.

Oh Mary, I just had to send this note off to you. I went to our house today. It is breath taking. The craftsmen, no, the artisans that Randy chose to build & detail all of the house is excellent. It is indeed a wonderful feeling. Looking at the outside, then walking inside—it’s breathtaking. You & Randy stand proud. What a magnificent creation. I'm about to explode with pride and enthusiasm. Just Love you two wonderful people.

  • Since we started Image Homes, we have always been disturbed by the flagrant waste of natural resources in the construction industry – think of the use of both air conditioning AND heat to regulate the temperature of an office building. We decided to develop some strategies for conserving energy, so we built a 5,000 square foot demonstration home to test them. We analyzed every aspect, material, and method in this home with an eye on how easy it would be for anyone to implement – the lower tech, the better! Did the building site offer access to the sun’s energy? Were the materials specified available from recycled content? Was it reasonably priced? Was it sustainably manufactured? Did it promote a healthy indoor environment? Our efforts were rewarded with the NAHB’s first place EnergyValue Housing Award out of 23 national entrants, and while this home was built many years ago, the lessons we learned are still valid and more important than ever in this present time. We have been tracking that home’s energy usage, among other things, for 32 years, and the home still performs at an outstanding level.

The name of our company, IMAGE, is an acronym for the energy features we still incorporate into each home we build.

  • We believe it is better to conserve than to squander what resources we have available to us. Nowhere is that more critical than how it pertains to the use of energy - of any kind. Generating energy takes enormous resources, no matter the source, and we believe that every aspect of that generation must be analyzed in terms of its sustainable, environmental, and human impact. It is critical to take the long view, avoiding trendy buzz words and greenwashing, understanding the cost to the international community as well as our own.
